BUS DRIVER
AMAR SINGH SETHI
A regular journey of a London bus driver transforms into a living nightmare as he finds himself in the middle of a terrorist stand-off between his panic-consumed passengers. Lives hang in the balance as he desperately tries to negotiate his way out of the quagmire.
Bus Driver, is aimed at challenging pre-existing notions of prejudice. The aim of the film was to depict a compelling examination of the unconscious bias that lives within us all.
Director Biography:
Amar was recognised for his musicality, taking 1st prize in Asian Star Search, a Nationwide British-Asian Music talent competition, winning the Punjabi singing category. Amar became the primary producer and lead singer in a Punjabi Rock Fusion Band. He became interested in filmmaking while directing, filming and editing music videos for his band and other fellow musicians.
Amar trained as an Actor at the Sam Rumbelow School of Method Acting (London) for three years. In 2020, Amar pursued his love for filmmaking and trained at the National Film and Television School. His script “Discharged” (micro-short) was selected to be made and sparked his passion for writing screenplays.
In 2021, Amar wrote and directed his first short film, “Bus Driver”, – a narrative short film aimed at challenging pre-existing notions of prejudice. The aim of the film was to depict a compelling
examination of the unconscious bias that lives deep within us all.
Amar is currently in production for multiple films which aim to bring a range of critical sociological issues to the forefront, including his next short – titled “Sweaty Hands”, which is currently in post- production. “Sweaty Hands” highlights the inauthenticity and façade of so-called “professional etiquette” in the corporate world.
