Director Biography:
Antaine Furlong grew up in Roundwood in Wicklow, where his father used to run the local cinema out of his living room. Ant’s first-hand experience behind the camera was after his father became an animal wrangler and he was fortunate to do small jobs during summer holidays on various films like The Old Curiosity Shop with Peter Ustinov.
Over the course of his schooling, Ant became a production runner on Sweeney Todd with Ben
Kingsley, directed by Academy Award Winner John Schlesinger. Ant went on to work on various other films including Kidnapped where he got to meet his childhood idol Superman, Christopher Reeve. He soon became an assistant director, working with Mike Myers on a small Irish film called Pete’s Meteor.
Ant started his professional career in accounting, as he hoped someday it might lead to a better
understanding of financing films. As time went by, Ant’s career in finance took off and he grew further away from the film, although he was still able to write fantasy/sci-fi material at night.
After moving to Australia, Ant joined a small media technology company called Massive Interactive, as their CFO, shareholder, and lender. He helped the company grow internationally with stellar clients like Sony, BBC, DAZN, Bell Media, AT&T, Lionsgate. After the successful sale of Massive to Deltatre, Ant decided to switch career paths and pursue his dream of filmmaking.
Ant started digging through his old scripts and pulled a great team of industry professionals together to make RISING WOLF – a script he and his co-writer Kieron Holland wrote 12 years ago. The film is what Ant hopes will be the start of a dream he’s always wanted to fulfill. He hopes RISING WOLF will find an audience and that his journey inspires others to never give up, even if life steers you in the opposite direction.
Ant currently lives in Australia with his wife and four children.
